Box Score Hoping to kick off the week on the right foot, the Bears traveled to Ellisville aiming to pick up a win over Jones after falling to the Bobcats late last week. And despite putting up a fight, the Bears were unable to pull out the victory, falling 11-25, 18-25, 14-25.
The Bears (3-12, 2-7 MACCC) came out trying to get off to a positive start, but the Bobcats got into rhythm early. Southwest was paced by multiple positives including an ace from Reagan Robinson and a kill from Abby Greenlee, but it unfortunately wasn't enough as Jones took the first set.
In the second set, Southwest found more success early on, pulling within four at 7-3 but could not find the consistency it needed as the hosts held on to take the second set.
The third started off similar to the second as Jones led but Southwest kept pace, pulling within two at 5-3 following a kill by Berta Soules. Later in the set, the Bears trailed and tried to rally, however, they were unable to get into a groove as the Bobcats took the third set and the match.
The Bears return home Wednesday to host Gulf Coast at 6 p.m.
