Back to full strength with the return of No. 1 singles Mansur Khajimuradov, the No. 24-ranked Bear Men battled a tough Hinds team and pulled out a 5-4 decision over the Eagles, Monday at home. The women put up a fight over the No. 23 Hinds Women's team but fell 6-0.
 
Injuries have provided obstacles for the teams this season and Southwest head coach Dean Clower was proud of how his teams continued to fight despite this.
 
"What they did today was overcome adversity," he said.  
 
In doubles play, the men's No. 3 team of Thomas Simpson and Jay Magee picked up an 8-3 win.
 
In singles play, Khajimuradov picked up a 6-1, 6-2 decision. Also victorious was No. 3 singles Manan Kumar who won 6-3, 6-2. No. 5 singles Magee won 6-1, 6-2 and No. 6 singles Simpson recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win.
 
Clower gave high praise to his men's team highlighting the all-around efforts from Magee and Simpson and the efforts in singles play of Khajimuradov and Kumar.
 
The Bears will be back in action Friday at 11 a.m. at Northeast.
