It was a good day all around for the Southwest Men's and Women's Tennis teams at home Saturday against Coastal Alabama – North as both recorded wins. The Lady Bears shut out the Lady Coyotes 6-0 while the Bears defeated the Coyotes 6-3.
"I just got done telling the team, everyone contributed," Southwest head coach Dean Clower said. "If you don't enjoy picking up and motivating your teammates, then you need to play individuals and don't need to be on a team."
On the women's side, the Lady Bears (1-4) got things going early in doubles play. The No. 1 team of Martina Troncoso and Anna Comeaux won their match 8-0 while the No. 2 team of Kayla Eby and Jacey Jones took their match 8-1.

"I was focused to win today because it was a very important match, not only for me but for the whole team," he said. "We needed to get back on the right track in order to prepare for the next match which is conference against Northwest."
Also picking up men's singles wins was No. 2 Kumar who won 6-1, 6-2; No. 4 singles Leon who won 7-6, 6-4 and No. 6 singles Thomas Simpson who claimed a 6-0, 6-4 win.
