Lady Bears unable to get past No. 14 East Central

The Lady Bears built momentum following Monday's home wins over Mississippi Delta. But they unfortunately could not carry it over to Wednesday's home doubleheader against No. 14 East Central dropping Game 1 7-0 before losing Game 2, 3-0.

The Lady Bears (17-23, 6-18 MACCC) fell behind 3-0 in the first inning when the Lady Warriors got all three runs on a single to right field.

Southwest tried to answer and put a runner on via a walk in the first and second innings but could not get her home.

In the third the deficit grew to 5-0 after a two-run home run by East Central.

For the third-consecutive inning the Lady Bears put a runner on base but unfortunately could not get her home.

The Lady Bears fell into a deeper hole in the sixth following a mistake before an East Central home run in the seventh rounded out the scoring in the contest.

In Game 2, the Lady Bears produced more offense as far as hits but unfortunately could not produce any runs.

The Lady Warriors plated a run each in the first and second innings before adding their third and final in the seventh.

Anlyssa Richardson led the Lady Bears with two hits in the contest.

Southwest will be back in action on Friday facing Itawamba at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Summit.
