Lady Bears sweep Coahoma by identical 9-0, 9-0 scores

The Lady Bears swept the visiting Coahoma Lady Tigers Sunday afternoon in MACCC action by identical 9-0, 9-0 scores. Both games ended after five innings.

In the opener, an RBI single from Jade Latham and a Shelby Mason two-RBI double put the Lady Bears (13-5, 5-3) up 3-0 after an inning.

The score went to 4-0 in the 2^nd when Maggie Magee led off with a double and later scored on a passed ball. In the 3^rd, Magee's two-RBI double helped account for two of the three Lady Bears runs as they increased their lead to 7-0. The Lady Bears closed out the scoring in the 4^th with RBI base hits from Magee and Amber Cowart.

Latham picked up the win in the circle, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 5 in 4 innings of work.

Madison Moak had two singles while Halee Jenkins had a double.

Latham's three-run blast and a two-run shot by Makenzi Authement put the Lady Bears on top 5-0 in the 2^nd inning of the finale.

The Lady Bears then sent nine batters to the plate on their way to scoring four runs in the 3^rd to close out the day's scoring.

Authement gave up two hits and struck out one in two innings to pick up the win in the circle.

Bailey Buckley had three singles in the game while Jenna Brock had two singles.

The Lady Bears return to play on March 16 in Ellisville when they take on the 6^th-ranked Jones Lady Bobcats. Game one of the conference doubleheader is set for a 4:00 first pitch.
