In yet another nail biter, the Bears pulled out a 73-69 win over visiting Co-Lin Monday night to sweep the season series from their rivals.

The Bears (7-2) took an early 8-2 lead, their largest of the first half, on a pair of Javius Moore free throws with 18:00 on the clock.

Co-Lin then outscored the Bears 12-5 to go on top 14-13 with 10:33 left in the half.

With 9:38 on the clock, a Moore three pointer put the Bears knotted the game at 16-all. Co-Lin then proceeded to outscore the Bears 18-10 to move in front 34-26 with 1:47 on the before halftime

Co-Lin (3-4) would take a 36-33 advantage into intermission.

Trailing 43-37 early in the second half, the Bears used a Tada Stricklen bucket and four points from Moore to tie the game at 43-43 with 17:37 to go.

For the next few minutes, there would be three more ties and three lead changes. With 10:44 remaining, an old-fashioned three-point play by Querrion Gadson put the Bears on top 56-53. A slam dunk from Moore then made it 58-53 with 10:07 to go.

With 6:52 left in the game, the Bears took their largest lead of the night, 66-56 on a Xyshan Jenkins layup and free throw.

But, Co-Lin would not go quietly into the night as they fought back to lead 69-68 with 1:50 showing.

The Bears, however, refused to fold as they scored the final five points of the game to record the win.

"I'm really proud to say we swept Co-Lin," said Bears head coach Bryan Bender. "It was an exciting win to be a part of. Our guys never quit. They had composure from start to finish."

"We never really felt like we were not in control of the game," Bender continued, "but, it was one of those where (the Bears) made big plays. You win on the defensive end; holding teams under 70 points is really impressive in our league and (people) saw tonight that we were able to rebound and defend down the stretch and get stops."

Moore led all players with 23 points in the game. Gadson followed with 16 points while Stricklen netted 12. The Bears made 15 of 18 free throws.

Co-Lin was led by Demarcus Ellzey's 16 points. He and his teammates combined to go 7-18 at the free throw line.

The Bears hit the road for their next contest as they travel to Decatur on February 25 to face the East Central Warriors. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00.
