Bears fall twice to Delgado

The Bears dropped a home doubleheader to the Delgado Dolphins Saturday afternoon, falling 7-5 in the opener and 5-1 in the finale.
 
The Bears trailed in 6-0 in the opener before getting on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning. A DJ Lewis bases-loaded double was the big blow as the Bears scored 4 times to pull to within 6-4.
 
Lewis later added a pair of singles.
 
Braydon Coffey walked to lead off the Bears' 4th inning and later scored on an error to make the score 6-5. Delgado answered in the top of the 5th with what proved to be the final run of the game.
 
Josh Bailey took the loss on the mound, allowing 7 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out 3 batters.
 
The Bears (2-9) were down 5-0 in the nightcap before scoring their only run in the bottom of the 7th. Britt Netterville led off the frame with a single and later scored on an error.

Nicolas Scucchi took the loss on the mound. In his 4.2 innings of work, he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 7.
 
The Bears are scheduled to return to play on March 2 in Pineville, LA, as they face the Louisiana College JV. The doubleheader is set for a 2:00 start.
