The Bears went to Poplarville Thursday night, hoping to put a damper on Homecoming for the Pearl River Wildcats. But, unfortunately, it was not to be as the hosts ended the night with a 37-26 win.

After falling behind early 6-0, the Bears took a 7-6 lead when Brandon Edmondson connected with Kameron Kincaid on an 18-yard scoring pass with 4:35 on the clock.
Josh Massa booted the extra point.

With 14:46 remaining in the second quarter, Edmondson fired a pass to Quo'Darius Crigler who then outran all defenders for a 78-yard touchdown. Massa's extra point extended the Bears' lead to 14-6.

The teams traded possessions for most of the remainder of the half before Pearl River (2-3) picked up a 29-yard field goal from Branson Davis, with 5:39 on the clock, that left the Bears on top 14-9 at intermission.

Pearl River scored the only points of the third quarter when Jakob Greer hit Latreal Jones for a 46-yard touchdown pass. A two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the hosts with a 15-14 advantage.

The Bears (0-5) regained the lead with 14:50 left in the game when Jerome Dudley ran to pay dirt for a seven-yard touchdown. A two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the Bears on top 20-15.

Pearl River quickly responded, getting a seven-yard scoring run from Nick Milsap with 13:45 still to play. Greer ran for a two-point conversion to put the home team back in the lead, 23-20.

The Bears took the lead for the final time, with 9:54 to go, when Edmondson scampered into the end zone from the two-yard line. After the PAT kick failed, the Bears were left with a 26-23 lead.

Greer ran for a 15-yard touchdown, with 6:50 still on the clock, and Davis added the extra point to put Pearl River on top for good, 30-26.

A 14-yard scoring run by Greer sealed the deal for Pearl River with 1:40 left in the game. Davis booted the PAT.

Edmondson paced the Bears' offense by completing 12 of 22 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns. He was picked of twice. He ran the ball 10 times for 50 yards and a touchdown.

Kincaid hauled in five passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Crigler had two catches for 83 yards and a score.

The Bears were penalized twice for 20 yards and had 13 first downs. Massa punted six times for an average of 33 yards per punt.

The Bears are scheduled to end the 2020 campaign on Friday, November 13, when they mark Homecoming with a 1:30 contest against the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs.
