Bears go down at Hinds

The host Hinds Eagles defeated the Bears by the score of 56-21Thursday night in Raymond.
 
The Bears trailed 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
 
The score was 28-0 before the Bears got on the board in the second quarter on a 75-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Edmondson to Dalyn McDonald. Josh Massa booted the PAT to make the score 28-7 at the end of the half.
 
With 8:52 left in the third quarter, the Bears got on the board again when Jaidyn Wilson dashed into the end zone from the two-yard line. Massa's PAT made the score 28-14.
 
After Hinds extended their lead to 42-14, the Bears struck again with Edmondson connecting with Jabez Griffith for a 64-yard scoring pass with 0:28 left in the third. Massa added the PAT, to end the Bears scoring and pull them to within 42-21.
 
Hinds (2-1) would score twice in the fourth quarter to achieve the 35-point victory.
 
Edmondson paced the Bears' offense by going 3-14 for 150 yards and two touchdowns (he was intercepted twice) and carrying the ball 14 times for 57 yards. McDonald had three catches for 98 yards and a touchdown.
 
The Bears recorded 14 first downs in the game and were penalized 4 times for 29 yards. Massa averaged 33.4 yards on 5 punts.
 
BeSean McCray completed 10 of 18 passes for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Hinds. Dajon Richard carried the ball 18 times for 145 yards and two scores.
 
Hinds picked up 27 first downs on the night and were whistled for 74 yards on 9 penalties. Houston Smith punted twice for 31.5 yards.
 
The Bears (0-4) keep to the road for their next contest as they travel to Poplarville on November 5 to face the Pearl River Wildcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00.
