Carias' two goals propel Bears to a 2-1 victory over Holmes

Marcelo Carias' two first-half goals propelled the Bears to a 2-1 win over the host Holmes Bulldog Friday afternoon in Ridgeland.
 
Holmes (2-7-1) took a 1-0 lead at the 19:18 mark of the game. 
 
The lead held until 30:18 of the match when Carias intercepted a Holmes pass and drove toward the goal. After the keeper came off his line, Carias beat him one-one-one to score the goal and bring the Bears even at 1-1.
 
At 39:01, Jaylon Crosby received the ball deep in the left corner of the field. He then passed the ball to Carias at the top of the box; Carias then took a touch to his right and sent a successful shot, from 20 yards out, to the upper right 90 for what proved to be the winning goal.
 
Bears' keeper Collin Reid saved six of seven Holmes shots on goal.
 
The Bears (1-7-1) return to action on October 1 when they host the William Carey University JV squad for a scheduled 4:00 match.
