Bears drop a pair at Gulf Coast

The Bears took a couple on the chin Tuesday evening in Perkinston as they dropped an MACJC doubleheader to the host Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs, 17-2 and 9-3.
 
The Bears picked up both of their first-game runs in the top of the fifth inning on RBI singles from Michael Buck and Logan Larrimore.
 
Matthew Graves took the loss on the mound, surrendering 11 runs on eight hits and a walk. He struck out one batter.
 
Zach Dearman had two doubles in the game.
 
The Bears (14-25, 6-20) picked up their first two runs in the nightcap in the third inning. On base with the first of his two hits in the game, Aaron Ragsdale scored on a Larrimore groundout. Buck added an RBI single, the first of his two hits in the game.
 
The final run of the day for the Bears came in the seventh when Cody Ellzey, on base with a single, scored on a Will Ford base hit.
 
Jace DeLee took the loss on the mound, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits and a walk in one inning of work.
 
Easton Porter had two hits for the Bears.

Gulf Coast climbed to 26-14, 16-10 with the wins.
 
The Bears close out the regular season Friday afternoon in Goodman as they take on the Holmes Bulldogs. Game one of the conference twin bill is scheduled for a 2:00 first pitch.
