6th-ranked Pearl River takes two from host Bears

The 6th-ranked Pearl River Wildcats took a pair of MACJC games from the Bears Tuesday afternoon in Summit, winning the opener 11-2 before capturing the finale 5-1.
 
The Bears trailed 4-0 in the opener before getting on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Reid Havard led off the frame for the Bears with a double to right field before making the score 4-1 three batters later when Paco Bello grounded into a fielder's choice.
 
Pearl River (27-8, 12-6) added their additional seven runs over the next four innings. The Bears added their final run in the bottom of the ninth when Cody Ellzey reached on a dropped third strike to open the inning and scored later on Havard's two-out base hit.
 
Jack Hilton took the loss on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. Zach Dearman and Michael Buck both had two singles in the game while DJ Lewis had a double.
 
The score was 4-0 when the Bears scored their only run in the fourth inning of game two. Logan Larrimore reached base on a one-out walk and scored on a Tyler White single, the second of this three in the game.
 
Ethan Campo gave up four runs on two hits and a walk in 0.2 innings, striking out one batter, in taking the loss for the Bears.
 
The Bears return to the diamond on Friday afternoon in a 1:00 conference doubleheader when they host the Tigers of Northeast Mississippi.
