The Bears exploded for 27 hits, including eight doubles, and 28 runs Wednesday afternoon on the way to a 14-4, 14-5 home sweep of the Nunez Community College Pelicans. Game one was called after five innings.

The opener was tied 1-1 after one inning of play. A DJ Lewis sacrifice fly scored Will Ford, on base with a single, in the bottom of the second to put the Bears (6-2) on top 2-1. Ford later added a pair of doubles.

After the Pelicans tied the game in the top of the third, RBI singles from Michael Buck and Tyler White put the Bears on top for good, 4-2, in the bottom of the frame.

The Pelicans (6-10) added their final run of the game in the top of the fifth. The Bears then closed things out in the bottom of the inning as Buck's RBI double and Cody Ellzey's third hit of the game helped them score six runs to reach the final score.

The Pelicans took a 4-0, first-inning lead in the nightcap. The Bears then responded with four of their own in the bottom of the inning, two coming via a Ford base hit, to knot the score at 4-4. Ford later added his third double of the day.

A pair of bases-loaded walks helped the Bears score runs runs and take an 8-4 lead in their half of the third inning. A two-RBI double from Trey Forsythe capped a four-run fifth to increase the Bears' lead to 12-4.

After the Pelicans scored their final run of the game in the top of the sixth, a pair of errors in the bottom of the inning resulted in the Bears' final two runs of the game to give them their final margin of victory.

Jacob McDaniel allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk in three innings on the mound to record the win. He struck out three batters.

Lewis had three hits in the game while Bello singled twice.

The Bears remain at home for their next games as they host the Coastal Alabama Sun Chiefs Friday afternoon. Game one of the twin bill is set for a 2:00 first pitch.
