The Bears extended their team-record winning streak to seven games Friday night in Decatur with a 7-2 non-division win over the host East Central Warriors.

The Bears (7-0) took a 1-0 lead at the 15:29 mark when Patrick Larsen headed the ball toward the goal. After the East Central keeper missed the ball,
Felipe Madero headed it into the goal to give the Bears an advantage they would not relinquish.

At 23:55, Larsen took a through ball from Nate Bond then went one-on-one with the East Central keeper before slotting the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal for a 2-0 lead for the Bears.

At 27:00, a ball was played through to Larsen who then slotted it across the box to Joaquin Bermejillo. Bermejillo then put it in the back of the net to give the Bears a 3-0 lead. Larsen scored his second goal of the night, with Madero assisting, at 35:31 to leave the Bears up 4-0 at halftime.

At the 52:00 mark, Larsen completed his third hat trick of the season (and scored his 17th goal) to extend the Bears' lead to 5-0.

After East Central scored on a free kick from just outside the 18 yard box to make the score 5-1, the Bears got a pair of goals from Marcus Connolly to move out to a 7-1 lead with 30:06 remaining. Another goal off a penalty kick late in the game gave East Central (2-6) their final goal of the game and left the Bears with their final margin of victory.

"If I'm being honest, I don't think we played that well," said Bears head coach Alex Brown. "I thought we were a little sloppy at times, but at the end of the day we got the job done and got the win."

"I was glad we were able to everyone in (the game to) get a little experience and get some reps," Brown continued. "Everyone worked hard so I was pleased with that. Of course, we are satisfied with the win, but we have a big game coming up Tuesday (September 25) against a very talented Jones College team and we are already preparing for them and looking forward to the challenge."

The South Division contest versus Jones College is set for a 3:00 start in Summit.
