Bears drop a pair at East Central

The Bears dropped an MACJC doubleheader in Decatur Wednesday afternoon, falling to the East Central Warriors 15-7 and 10-0. Game one was halted after eight innings while the finale ended after six innings.
 
Michael Buck's one-out double to left field scored Quartez Brown from first base in the top of the first to put the Bears on top 1-0 in game one. Brown was on via the first of his two singles in the game.
 
Two singles, a double and homer resulted in the bottom of the first resulted in a 3-1 lead for East Central.
 
In the bottom of the second, Tyler White's lead-off solo homer cut the Bears' deficit to 3-2. White would later added two singles.
 
The Bears (5-10, 2-2) trailed 7-2 before getting back on the board in the top of the seventh. Buck's two-out, two-RBI single and a follow-up homer from T Tez Cole pulled the Bears to within 7-6.
 
East Central (15-5, 4-0) responded in a big way in the bottom of the seventh, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs to increase their advantage to 12-6.
 
Isaiah Davis, on base via a single, scored on an error in the Bears' eighth to make the score 12-7. That would be it for the Bears as East Central closed out the game with three runs in the bottom of the frame.
 
Bears' starter Ethan Campo took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs on six hits and five walks in three innings. He struck out three batters. Kyle Singleton had two hits for the Bears.
 
In the finale, East Central sent eight batters to the plate in bottom of the second to take a 4-0 lead. They would go on to add four more in the fourth and one each in the fifth and sixth innings to end the game.
 
Henry McDonald allowed six runs (four earned) on three hits and a walk in three innings on the mound in taking the loss for the Bears. He struck out two batters.
 
Paco Bello and Nathan Yennie both had a double for the Bears.
 
The Bears return to the diamond on Saturday when they host the Mississippi Delta Trojans. Game one of the conference doubleheader is set for a 2:00 first pitch.
