Host Delgado takes a pair from Bears

Wednesday games cancelled, doubleheader added on Saturday

The hits just would not come for the Bears Tuesday night in New Orleans as they dropped a doubleheader to the host Delgado Dolphins 2-1 and 6-1.                            
 
The Bears took a 1-0 first-inning lead in game one without benefit of a hit. Payton Yawn reached on an error to start the game, before moving to
second on a ground out and to third on a passed ball. Another passed ball then allowed him to cross the plate to put the Bears on top.
 
Delgado used a single, hit batter and two-base hit to pick up their only runs of the game in their half of the fifth inning.
 
Michael Buck's line-drive single in the top of the fifth and Isaiah Davis' double to right field in the sixth were the only hits the Bears (1-3) could muster.
Henry McDonald took the loss in relief for the Bears, giving up two runs on two hits in two innings on the mound. He struck out one batter.
 
The Bears (1-3) trailed 3-0 in the nightcap before getting their only run in the top of the fifth. Kyle Singletons blast over the right field fence cut the Delgado lead to 3-1. He would later add a single.
 
Unfortunately for the Bears, that would be as close as they would get. Delgado (7-6) added a solo run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to capture the win.
 
Starter Matthew Graves took the loss on the mound. In 2.2 innings of work, he surrendered three runs, two earned, on two hits while walking four and striking out three. Yawn had a base hit for the Bears.

The Bears' games at Louisiana College, scheduled for Wednesday, have been cancelled. The Bears will next take the diamond on Friday when they travel to Bay Minette, AL, for a 3:00 twinbill against Coastal Alabama.
