Lady Bears drop a pair at home to Hinds

The Lady Bears suffered their first defeats of the season Wednesday night with 8-3 and 5-3 losses at home to the Hinds Lady Eagles.
 
The Lady Bears trailed 3-0 before coming to bat for the first time in the opener. In the bottom of the frame,
Ashley Elsensohn lead off with a double to left field (she later added a triple in the game) before scoring two batters later on a bases-loaded walk to Jordan McNabb. A passed ball then allowed Kayla McNabb cross the plate and a
Madison Bates single passed the Hinds shortstop scored another run to tie the game at 3-3.
 
Hinds then scored solo runs in their half of the fourth and fifth innings to go on top 5-3. The Lady Eagles (7-2) then added three more runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win.
 

Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle for the Lady Bears, allowing five runs on seven hits. She struck out one batter while also walking one. Both Melanie Crum and Kayla McNabb had a base hit.
 
Game two was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Elsensohn reached base on a one-out walk. After stealing second, she then scored on a Jordan McNabb base hit up the middle.
 
The Lady Bears (4-2) made it 3-0 in the fifth inning when
Miranda Magee blasted a 1-0 pitch over the centerfield fence. Also scoring on the play was Crum, on base via a walk.
 
The Lady Eagles used a double and pair of singles in the top of the sixth to make the score 3-2. They then scored what proved to be the winning runs in the top of the seventh on a pair of base hits and Madeleine Hart's homer to right field.
 
Jordan McNabb took the loss in the circle, giving up five runs on 11 hits while striking out two and walking one.
Carrington Jefcoat had two hits for the Lady Bears.
 
The Lady Bears look to get back in the win column Thursday after with a home double dip against Trinity Valley (TX). Game one is set for a 12:00 first pitch.
