Lady Bears drop a pair at #9 East Central

The Lady Bears dropped a MACJC conference doubleheader to the 9th-ranked East Central Wednesday afternoon in Decatur, falling 2-1 in the opener before going down 9-1 in the finale.

The Lady Bears are scheduled to close out the regular season at Northeast Mississippi Friday with a 1:00 twin bill.

A triple and groundout put the Lady Warriors (38-6, 23-5) on top 1-0 in the first inning of game one. The Lady Bears then tied it at 1-1 in the top of the third when
Miranda Magee tripled to right field with two outs and scored on an Amy Bonvillain base hit.

The score remained deadlocked until the bottom of the seventh when back-to-back two-out triples resulted in the winning run crossing the plate for the Lady Warriors.

Kassie Shipley took the loss in the circle, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and a walk in 6.2 innings. She struck out two batters. Jenna Duff and
Jeney Hudson both had a single.

The Lady Bears (18-23, 14-12) trailed 8-0 in the nightcap before getting their only run of the game in the top of the fifth.
Gianca Holmes reached base on an error to start the frame and scored two batters later on a Kelcey Bremenkamp ground out to make the score 8-1.

The Lady Warriors scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Rebecca Davis took the loss in the circle, giving up five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks in 2.1 innings of work. She struck out three batters.

The Lady Bears were held to a
Jordan Fitzgerald second-inning single.
