It was a long night on the gridiron for the Bears in their home finale as their arch-rivals, the Co-Lin Wolves, came calling and left with a 45-3 MACJC South Division win.

The Bears took the first possession of the game and proceeded to move the ball from their own 30-yard line to the Co-Lin 10. The drive then stalled and
Gunar Robinson entered the field and put the Bears on top 3-0 with a 27-yard field goal with 10:14 left in the initial quarter.

Taking the ensuing kickoff, Co-Lin moved 68 yards on nine plays before having to settle for a 29-yard Griffin Sublett field goal that tied the game at 3-3 with 4:48 left in the quarter.

Co-Lin (4-4, 2-3) took a 10-3 lead with 14:57 left in the second quarter when Rico Owens reached the end zone on a one-yard dive to close out an eight-play drive. Sublett booted the extra point.

Co-Lin would go on to score two additional touchdowns, and record a safety, in the quarter to build up a 26-3 lead at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter, Sublett's 21-yard field goal with 10:50 on the clock extended the Co-Lin lead to 29-3. They then added two more touchdowns and a second safety to reach their final margin of victory.

"Co-Lin's very good on defense," said Bears head coach Tucker Peavey. "They're ranked among the best line league; we knew that coming in."

"We had a good drive the first series (of the game)," Peavey continued, "and didn't get it in, but kicked a field goal. Then we come out the very next possession and we end up with a holding penalty and missed assignment and we're behind the chains.

"Then, all of a sudden, (the game) just seemed to change from there," Peavey stated. "But, I think it was a result of their pressure. They're athletic everywhere (and) they're good on defense, really good, and we weren't able to match that and, obviously, we're struggling at quarterback with injuries and getting reps and being able to go full speed."

"Up front on the offensive line," Peavey concluded, "Grant (Short) is our third center; we're just down to that with injuries. So, I think all of those things contributed to us (having problems) on offense. I do think there were things there that we just didn't make the plays on, but they're pressure is obviously what carries them (Co-Lin)."

Chase Hughes carried the ball 13 times for 32 yards for the Bears (0-8, 0-5). Neil McLaurin had 16 yards on five carries.

Through the air, McLaurin,
Juwan Adams and Brady Anderson combined to complete three of 21 passes for 39 yards. Johnny Wilson had 23-yard reception while
Averyon Harris and Hughes caught one pass each.

The Bears were held to three first downs in the game and were penalized 11 times for 92 yards.
Casey Griffith punted the ball 10 times for 25.7 yards.

Co-Lin's offense was led by Deion Dampier who rushed 10 times for 127 yards. Owens and Carlos Ronsburgh both had a rushing touchdown.

Woody Barrett completed 10 of 17 passes for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Co-Lin picked up 21 first downs in the game while being called for 35 yards on seven penalties. Sublett had a 34-yard average on two punts.

The Bears close out the season on October 26 when they travel to Decatur to face the East Central Warriors. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30.
