The Southwest Bears remained undefeated and opened MACJC South Division play with an impressive 2-0 win in Ellisville over the Jones County Bobcats Friday night.

With the win, only the second victory by the Bears over Jones County and the first in Ellisville, the Bears moved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the South while the Bobcats fell to 0-2 and 0-1.

After a brilliant cross from
Michael Escobar, Jaime Delor won the battle in the air and headed the ball into the back of the net in the 11th minute to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same until the 68th minute when Delor provided a fantastic assist resulting in a left foot-finish by Francisco Alisiardi and the Bears' final 2-0 margin of victory.

"It was an extremely tough battle," said Bears' head coach Zach Mills. "We worked hard and didn't give up. My guys earned the win and I'm extremely proud."

Freshman keeper
Kade Jenkins saved two shots on goal in recording his third shutout of the young season.

The Bears next face the Eagles of Meridian on September 6. The game is set for a 4:00 start.
