Bears fall at Pearl River, 2-1, in overtime

The Southwest Bears suffered a tough defeat Friday night in Poplarville when the host Pearl River Wildcats picked up a 2-1 win, in overtime, in MACJC South Division soccer action.
 
After a scoreless first half, Jaime Delor put the Bears (4-2, 1-2 South) up 1-0 when he scored his eighth goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 51st minute.
 
The Bears' lead held until the 61st minute when a goal from the Wildcats' Mark Johnson knotted the game at 1-1.
 
With neither team able to score in the final 29:00 of regulation, the game went into extra play. Just 4:00 in, Jackson Turner fired in the winning goal for the home team (3-2, 2-1 South).
 
The Bears return to action on September 13 with a scheduled 4:00 home game against South Division foe Mississippi Gulf Coast.
