Lady Bears take two from Mississippi Delta on the road

The Lady Bears exploded for 28 hits and 33 runs Thursday as they defeated swept the host Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans 18-4 and 15-4. Both games were halted after five innings and were played at Mississippi Valley State University.
 
The wins propelled the Lady Bears to 14-12 overall and 7-5 in the MACJC. The Lady Trojans dropped to 3-23, 0-12.
 
Six hits, a pair of walks, a fielder's choice and four Mississippi Delta errors allowed the Lady Bears to take a 10-0, first-inning lead in the opener.
EMILY TUMINELLO swung the big bat for the Lady Bears, recording two two-RBI doubles in the frame.
 
Talaja Echols' two-run homer in the bottom of the first helped the Lady Trojans narrow the score to 10-4.
 
The Lady Bears made it 15-4 in the top of the second.
AUSTIN PRUITT's second hit of the game scored two runs while the third of Tuminello's four hits scored a run. JENNA DUFFhad an RBI single in the inning for her second hit of the game. Another run scored on an error.
 
The score went to 17-4 in the top of the third when
JESSIE PENTON picked her second hit of the game, a one-out triple, and scored on an error. KAYLA SANCHEZ then recorded her second hit of the game to score Pruitt, on base via an error. MARKIA QUINN scored the final run of the game in the top of the fourth when she reached on a lead-off walk and later scored on an error.
 

MACY FULTON picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Bears. She surrendered four runs on four hits while striking out four.
 
The finale started off like the game one for the Lady Bears as they took an 8-0 lead in the top of the first. Penton doubled to score a run while Pruitt, Kelcey Bremenkamp and
MCKENZIE BROCK each recorded an RBI single.
 
Kayla Sanchez singled and later scored on an error in the top of the second to increase the Lady Bears' lead to 9-0. Bremenkamp had her second hit of the game in the inning.
 
A double, walk, fielder's choice and three errors helped the Lady Trojans pick up their four runs in the bottom of the second to make the score 9-4.
 
The Lady Bears closed out the scoring with six runs in the top of the fourth. Brock, Pruitt and Kayla Sanchez each had their second hit of the game in the inning while
JANA MCEWEN and KRISTIE SANCHEZ also hit safely in the frame.
 

REBECCA DAVIS picked up the complete-game win for the Lady Bears, giving up four runs while allowing only two hits and walking two. Tuminello had a single in the game, her fifth hit of the day.
 
Brock recorded five steals in the two games to give her 22 for the season, tying the Southwest single-season record.
 
The Lady Bears stay in the northwest part of the state today as they travel to Clarksdale to face the Coahoma Lady Tigers. Game one of the MACJC twin bill is set for a 2:00 start.
