East Central scores late goals to defeat Bears

The Southwest Bears suffered their first loss of the soccer season Thursday in Decatur when they fell 4-1 to host East Central in Decatur. The Bears return to action on September 4 when they host arch-rival Co-Lin in a 4:00 MACJC South Division match.
 
At East Central, the Bears (1-1-1) were down 1-0 at the break on the strength of a Devon Pitts goal. The score remained 1-0 until Jonathan Schmaltz took a pass from Morris Aitken and found the goal at 65:00.
 
Blake Bonds then scored what proved to be the winning goal for East Central (2-1) at 75:00. The Warriors then scored two more goals in the final 15:00.
 
Bryant Boyington had seven saves in goal for the Bears
