Four individual records, and one team record, were tied Tuesday afternoon as the Southwest Bears defeated the visiting Meridian Eagles 4-1.

The win moved the Bears to 7-6-2 on the season and 4-3-1 in the MACJC South Division and put them in a tie with the 2009 Bears' squad for the most wins in team history (that team finished 7-7-1). Coupled with last night's loss by Jones County, the Bears are now in a tie with the Bobcats as they battle for one of three spots in the upcoming playoffs.

Tristen Nicholson scored all four goals for the Bears (at 19:32, 23:08, 67:47 and 78:18) to tie the Bears' individual record for goals and points (8) in a game (set by teammate Morris Aitken on September 4 in a 6-1 win over Co-Lin). He now has 12 goals on the season, tying him with Marshall Ngobodi (2009) for the most in a season by a Southwest player.

Tristan Garriga provided the assist for three of Nicholson's goals, tying him with Derek Zimmer (2009) for most assists in a match by a Bears' player. Jonathan Schmaltz added the other assist.

Meridian (2-12, 1-7) avoided the shutout when Cristian Lopez scored on a penalty kick at 71:07 of the match.

The Bears return to play Friday when they host the Pearl River Wildcats in a 4:00 South Division match.
