Jones County tops Bears in Ellisville

The Southwest Bears fell behind 3-0 in the first half to the host Jones County Bobcats and were unable to overcome the deficit as they fell 3-1 in Ellisville.
 
The Bears now stand at 1-6-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in the MACJC's South Division. The Bobcats moved to 4-3 and 3-1.
 
Evan Buckley put the home team on the board with a goal at 11:00 of the first half. He added another goal at 23:00.
 
The Bears avoided the shutout at 48:00 when Denver Bankston, aided by De' Anthony Williams, scored to make the score 3-1.
 
Bears' keeper Bryant Boyington saved 12 of 15 Jones County shots on goal including, for the second straight match, a penalty kick.
 
Southwest resumes play Friday when they host the Meridian Eagles in a South Division contest. Fans should note the match will start at 2:00 rather than the usual starting time of 4:00.
