Bears pick up 5-0 win at Co-Lin

An early goal by Denver Bankston was all the Southwest Bears would need Tuesday night as they picked up a 5-0 win over their arch-rivals, Co-Lin, in Wesson.

The Bears travel to Pearl River Friday afternoon for their next match, a South Division contest set to get underway at 4:00.

Bankston put the Bears (2-9-2, 2-4 South) up 1-0 Tuesday night when he took a pass from Eric Woodard then went one-on-one with the Co-Lin keeper and scored on a breakaway at 16:00 of the half.

The score went to 2-0 at 31:00 when Anthony Cucurullo received the ball from Brenden Nicholson and scored with a beautiful finish to the upper 90. Nicholson then scored from 30 feet out at 41:00, to give the Bears a 3-0 halftime lead. Irving Aitken provided the assist.

At 51:00 Bankston, assisted by Vadim Drake, scored his second goal of the night to extend the Bears' lead to 4-0. The scoring ended at 80:00 when Bankston scored a left-footed goal, with an assist from Nicholson.

Southwest keeper Bryant Boyington saved all six Co-Lin (2-10-1, 0-6) shots on goal.
