Bears drop heart-breaker at Jones County, 3-2, in overtime

The Bears suffered a heart-breaking loss at Jones County Friday night as host Jones County pulled out a 3-2 overtime win. With the loss, the Bears fell to 0-5-1 on the season and 0-3 in the MACJC South Division. Jones County moved to 3-1, 2-1.

The Bobcats took an early 1-0 lead on Eric Johnson's goal at 11:00 of the first half. The Bears then forced a 1-1 tie at the half when Connor Masters scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Bryan Stewart-Bennett.

Jones County regained the lead, 2-1, at 78:00 when Evan Buckley scored. The score remained the same until the Bears' Stewart-Bennett found scored with less than 10 seconds to play to send the game into overtime. Landry Lofton provided the assist.

However, the Bears' luck would not hold as Kevin Ndongo scored less than 2:00 minutes into the overtime to allow Jones County to escape with the win.

The Bears return to play on Wednesday when they host Pearl River in a 4:00 South Division match.
