Another close one went against the Bears Tuesday afternoon as they dropped a 2-1 MACJC South Division soccer match, in overtime, to visiting Meridian.
Southwest (0-4-1, 0-2 South) held a 1-0 at the half in the men's match thanks to Landry Lofton's goal at 13:35 of the game. Destin Beech provided the assist.
The lead continued to hold up through most of the second half and the Bears seemed on their way to their first win of the season. However, luck was not on their side as Evinn Watson found the back of the goal for Meridian (3-3, 2-0 South), with an assist from Kyle Roblin, at 85:53 to tie the score at 1-1 and force the match into overtime. The Eagles then escaped with the win as Christian Jackson scored off an assist from Tyler Germany with only 1:41 off the clock in the extra period.
The Bears return to action Friday in Ellisville as they face Jones County. The match is set for a 7:00 start.
