Gunnell, Southwest Sports Information Bears fall 2-1 in overtime to visiting Itawamba Southwest suffered another tough defeat with a 2-1 overtime loss to visiting Itawamba in a non-division soccer match Tuesday afternoon. The Bears return to play Friday when they meet Holmes at 4:00 at Ridgeland's Freedom Ridge Park. The match is set to get underway at 4:00. A goal from 40 yards out by Joel Villa put the Bears up 1-0 at 23:17 of the first half. Chris Gomez provided the assist. The lead held up until 37:34 of the half when Itawamba's Dylan Howard's tied the match on an unassisted goal to knot things up at 1-1 at the half. The teams remained deadlocked until the 95th minute when a pass from Enrique Hackler resulted in an Itawamba goal by Brayden Timmons that gave the visitors the narrow victory. Print Friendly Version
