Travis Connelley is in his fifth year as Sports Information Director at Southwest.
He comes to SMCC after over a decade as a professional journalist.
A native of Ponchatoula, La, Connelley is a 2003 graduate of Ponchatoula High School. After high school, he attended Southeastern Louisiana University and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism.
He began his career in journalism in 2009 working in television at the FOX affiliate in New Orleans. He added a second role as a part-time high school sports reporter with the Times-Picayune in 2012.
He made the move to Mississippi in 2018 joining the Enterprise-Journal newspaper in McComb as the Sports Editor, a role he held until June 2021. During his time at the Enterprise-Journal, he won multiple awards from the Associated Press and Mississippi Press Association.
Connelley is a member of the College Sports Communicators.
