Chris Stamps is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Bear Football Team. Stamps is in charge of the linebackers.
Stamps, a Vicksburg-native prepped at Warren Central where he was named All-State twice and played in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game. He played two years at Mississippi State, one year at Northwest Mississippi and finished his undergrad at Middle Tennessee State.
After graduation, he stayed at MTSU as a strength and conditioning intern before taking a role as a graduate assistant at Mississippi Delta in 2020, coaching linebackers.
He then transitioned to a cornerbacks coach at East Central also for one season before taking a job as a graduate assistant coaching defensive backs at the University of Buffalo in 2022.
Stamps took a job as a Defense Quality Control Coach in 2023 in the XFL before returning home to Mississippi State. He spent two years in Starkville coaching linebackers in 2023 and coaching safeties in 2024.
In his five years as a coach, Stamps has coached NFL Players Dee Williams of the New York Giants and Nathaniel "Bookie" Watson of the Cleveland Browns. He also coached Michael Coats Jr. who signed with the University of Nevada and is currently at West Virginia.
