Carter Hankins is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Bears. Hankins is a Co-Offensive Coordinator and will work with quarterbacks.
The Purvis-native comes to Summit following one season at Holmes where he was the Quarterbacks Coach. He was part of the staff that helped the Bulldogs make their first playoff appearance in 21 years.
The Forrest County AHS graduate shined on the gridiron and diamond in college prepping at Pearl River and Northwestern State before finishing at Southern Miss as a member of the Golden Eagle football team.
After graduation, Hankins stayed in Hattiesburg as a graduate assistant coach for five years. While there he coached two-time Sun Belt All-Conference selection Frank Gore Jr. In addition, he was also on the staff who won the 2022 Lending Tree Bowl.
Hankins obtained two masters degrees from Southern Miss, one in Sports Management and the other in Coaching and Sports Performance. He got his bachelor's degree in 2018 in Liberal Studies, also from USM.
Hankins is the son of Brad and Shannon Hankins and has a sister, Caroline. Hankins' father is no stranger to coaching as well as he is the head football coach at Purvis High School.
