Tristain Haynes homers to cap off 3-hit game against East Mississippi

Southwest Mississippi Baseball traveled to Scooba on Saturday, March 14th to take on East Mississippi in a doubleheader.

Southwest lost both games 2-8 and 1-3.

In game one, Matt Newman started on the mound with 3 strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched.

Nathan Carter, Easton Boyte, Luke Simmons, and Tee Robinson each saw time on the mound as well.

Despite the loss, Tristain Haynes put on a great offensive performance with 3 hits, a homerun, 1 RBI, and a stolen base.

Drew Swan had 2 hits with 1 double while JD Hidalgo, Sam Tumminello, and Hayes Loper each had 1 hit.

Hayes Loper had 1 RBI.

Hayes Loper and JD Hidalgo each stole a base.

The Bears would lose game one 2-8.

Game two was much closer with a final score of 1-3 in favor of East Mississippi.

Alden Spencer started at pitcher for the Bears in game two.

Spencer pitched 2.2 innings with 2 strikeouts and only one hit and one run allowed.

Nik Carney pitched the rest of the game with 5 strikeouts.

Justin Domiano, Tee Robinson, Landon French, and Johnathan Miller all had 1 hit in the contest.

Tee Robinson hit a homerun in the top of the fifth to tie the game 1-1 for the Bears, but that would end the scoring for Southwest in game two.

The Bears would go on to lose 1-3 in a defensive battle where each team only had 4 hits.

The Bears (16-11, 0-4*conference) look to bounce back on Tuesday, March 17th when they host Meridian for a doubleheader.
