Southwest Mississippi Women's Basketball played the Mississippi Delta Trojans at home on Saturday, February 7th in a 64-51 Lady Bears home win.

The Lady Bears got a conference win when they needed it most improving to an even 3-3 conference record.

A back and forth first quarter ended with a score of 13-13 as Southwest tied the game off the back of back to back threes from Gracie Miller and Laci Buchanan.

Another Gracie Miller corner three would give the Lady Bears the lead minutes into the second quarter, but it was quickly answered back by the Trojans who stole the lead going into the half with a score of 27-26.

Four minutes into the second half, Talana Bond stole the ball and scored on a break away to give the Lady Bears the lead, but the Trojans continued to fight back.

A close third quarter left the Bears in a 39-44 deficit going into the fourth and final quarter.

Mady Smith scored the first five points of the fourth for the Lady Bears to keep them within reach of the Trojans. Shortly after, a Mercedes Dorsey layup would give Southwest the lead with 5:00 left on the clock.

The Lady Bears defense picked up and held on to that lead for the rest of the game.

With just under 2 minutes left, Gracie Miller hit another corner three to ice the game.

A Dorsey 9-point fourth quarter helped propel Southwest to a 64-51 victory over Mississippi Delta.

Gracie Miller led the charge with 15 points on 3 three pointers made with Mady Smith just behind her with 14 points. Talana Bond also had 10 points with 4 clutch fourth quarter free throws.

"Very proud of our defense late and execution overall," said Head Coach Brent Harris.

The Lady Bears (7-12, 3-3*conference) have a quick turn around playing Coahoma on Monday, February 9th at home.
