Southwest Mississippi Women's Basketball traveled to Wesson, MS on Thursday, February 19th to play the Co-Lin Wolves in a 38-51 Southwest loss.

Mercedes Dorsey opened up the scoring for Southwest in what would be a very low scoring first half for both teams.

Mady Smith scored 5 points for the Lady Bears in the final 1:30 of the first quarter including a three pointer to give Southwest a 9-7 lead to end the first quarter.

With an equally slow second quarter from each team, Shanell Celestine made 4 straight free throws to hold on to the Lady Bear lead as they went to the half with an 18-15 lead over the Wolves.

The third quarter proved to be scrappier with multiple lead changes in the final minutes of the quarter.

Four straight points from Mady Smith gave the Lady Bears the lead with 1:07 left in the third, but the Wolves answered quickly taking a 29-28 lead over Southwest going into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Bear offense struggled in the fourth with Mercedes Dorsey being the only player to get anything going with 8 fourth quarter points.

But Dorsey's efforts were not enough as the Lady Bears would end up losing 38-51 to the Wolves.

Mercedes Dorsey led the team with 10 points, and Mady Smith followed suit with 9 points herself.

The Lady Bears (7-17, 3-8*conference) look to bounce back on Monday, February 23rd when they play Pearl River at home.
