With a 6-4 lead in the top of the sixth, the Lady Bears could not get too comfortable.

Southwest scored two runs in the top of the seventh on errors by the pitcher and catcher followed by a Corin Talbot solo homerun to give the Lady Bears a 9-4 lead.

Baton Rouge was not done fighting yet as they clawed back within 1 run in the bottom of the seventh.

Corin Talbot struck out the first batter of the inning before Tye Boone would switch in to record the save. A sac-fly and a ground out to second base would close the curtains for the Lady Bears in
a 9-8 road win.

Corin Talbot recorded 4 hits in the game including 1 homerun. Tristan Allen had 2 hits both of which were doubles.

Bailey McLin, Allie Ladnier, Lauryn Roebuck, and Madalyn Ashford each had 2 hits in the contest also.

Jana Phillips, Lauryn Roebuck, and Madalyn Ashford all stole a base.

"The team performed well. We still haven't put all three facets together at the same time. We hit the ball incredible, I thought we played great defense. We ran the bases really well. I thought we could do a better job throwing in the circle but other games we've thrown really well. One thing that's been consistent is our hitting. We are hitting very well right now as a team," said Head Coach Shea Johnson.

"To be able to do that and the kids that have come along the way. The coaches that I've had. I can't say enough about my coaching staff I have now. We're all on the same page; year three together. We've bought in and brought in a great freshman class. I think being where we are at right now is continuing to make us a better team," said Coach Johnson when asked about what reaching 200 wins means to him, "it's exciting. You know you always want to work toward bettering the program. And I feel like we have gotten better and better and better, and this is an exciting year for us."

The Lady Bears (6-2) stay on the road this week taking on Bishop State on Thursday, February 19th.
