Southwest Mississippi Baseball played Florida Post Grad on Tuesday, February 10th in a dominant 14-4 home win.

The pitching and the hitting both performed well for the Bears against the Marlins.

Talen Boyd started on the mound for Southwest, pitching 2 innings and producing 3 strikeouts on one hit allowed.

Florida Post Grad scored 2 of their 4 runs in the first inning with Boyd on the mound.

Easton Boyte took over pitching duties for the Bears pitching two innings of his own also producing 3 strikeouts with no hits or runs allowed.

The bottom of the third inning is when the Bear bats finally woke up putting up 4 runs to bring the score to 5-2 in favor of Southwest.

This inning saw a triple from Robbie Hokamp followed by a double from Sam Tumminello.

Ian Edwards was next up on the mound for the Bears pitching only one inning but recording one strikeout.

The Bears had two more slow offensive innings followed by back to back 4-run innings with the second activating the mercy rule and a 14-4 win for Southwest.

The sixth inning saw a triple from Tee Robinson and a double from JD Hidalgo.

The seventh inning saw a handful of walks and another Sam Tumminello double. The final run to activate the mercy rule was a bases loaded walk to Caden Case that advanced the final runner.

Tate Miller pitched the last two innings for the Bears with 3 strikeouts and only 1 hit allowed.

Sam Tumminello had 3 hits in the game including two doubles while Tanner Moore, Robbie Hokamp, and Landon French each had 2 hits. Andrew Hoff, JD Hidalgo, Tee Robinson, and Tristain Haynes also had 1 hit each.

In addition to the hits, stolen bases played a big part of the Bears success.

Tanner Moore had 4 stolen bases on the evening with Tristain Haynes and Landon French each stealing 2 of their own. Justin Domiano, JD Hidalgo, Luke Simmons, and Sam Tumminello all had 1 stolen base.

Ethan Boyte takes home the win for the Bears and Tate Miller gets the save.

"Glad to see us continue to throw well and our offense was finally able to hit the ball with authority. That's what we've been missing. Hopefully more of that is to come," said Head Coach Jack Edmonson.

The Bears (4-2) prepare for a three-game series against Alvin Community College at home on Thursday and Friday, February 12-13th.
