Southwest Mississippi's Women's Basketball traveled to Scooba on Thursday, January 29th for a conference game against the East Mississippi Lions that saw Southwest lose in a 51-71 road game.

An even first quarter ended in a 10-10 score with Kori Ware having 6 of the Lady Bears 10 points.

Southwest continued to keep it close in the second quarter going into the half with a 22-21 lead over the Lions.

The Lions came out of the halftime break firing, opening the second half with a quick three to take the lead. The Lady Bears quickly tied the game back up and kept it close at 30-30 with 4:30 left in
the third quarter.

East Mississippi quickly heated up taking back the lead with another three pointer and never giving it back ending the third quarter with the Lady Bears trailing 33-46.

The Lady Bears managed 18 points in the fourth quarter but could not overcome the Lions offense as they put up 25 of their own in the fourth leading to an East Mississippi win of 71-51.

Kori Ware led the team in scoring with 12 points. Gracie Miller and Mady Smith each posted 8 points of their own.

"We gave a good physical effort. We had some mental lapses and it led to big runs and we just weather that right now," said Head Coach Brent Harris.

The Lady Bears (5-12,1-3*conference) prepare to take on Holmes at home on Monday, February 2nd at 5:30 P.M.
