Lady Bears fall in Decatur

| By:
Southwest Mississippi Women's Basketball fell short in 68-48 road loss to the East Central Warriors on January 22nd.

After a scoreless opening three minutes, the Lady Bears broke into the double digits in the first quarter after failing to do so in the previous two games. The quarter finished with the Warriors leading 19-11.

Southwest kept it close in the second as they shrank the deficit only trailing by 5 with a 28-33 score line at half in favor of the Warriors.

A slow third quarter from the Lady Bears saw only 5 points produced as the Warriors stretched their lead to 55-33.

Unable to overcome the large deficit, Southwest would go on to lose 68-48 on the road, moving to 1-2 in conference play.

Gracie Miller led the team with 11 points. Shanell Celestine and Kori Ware also contributed 9 and 8 points.

"Today was disappointing," said Coach Brent Harris, "we need to self-evaluate and decide what we are going to do to become a better team."

The Lady Bears (5-11, 1-2 *conference) are back at home on Monday the 26th as they take on Mississippi Delta for a chance even out their conference record to 2-2.
