The Bears travelled to Southern Shreveport on January 10th for an afternoon rematch that saw the Bears fall 86-83 in a tightly contested game.
The beginning of the game was back and forth consisting of multiple lead changes. A putback layup from Freshman Andre Ngomabie gave the Bears the lead 23-21 with 7:40 remaining in the first half.
Another putback from fellow Freshman Chidi Nwosu forced the Shreveport Jags to call a timeout to put a stop to an 8-0 Bears run taking them into halftime with a 40-32 lead.
The Bears would stretch the lead all the way up to 13 early in the 2nd half. Key takeaways helped kickstart a 12-0 Shreveport run that cut the lead to 1.
Shortly after, Sophomore Jaylen Haliburton gave the Bears a 56-50 lead with a transition layup. Shreveport quickly answered and the game proved to be a back and forth battle down to the very end.
With 2 minutes of play remaining, Leano Rolle's three point play followed by a quick turnover and three pointer from Courterious Scott gave the Bears a 72-71 lead.
The Bears had a chance to tie it up in the final seconds but came up just short as Shreveport took the victory 86-83.
Courterius Scott led the Bears with 24 points, and Leano Rolle was right behind him with 21 points.
The Bears begin conference play next Thursday, January 15th with a road trip to Hinds Community College.
