Bears edge host Delgado, 70-65

In a game that was close from beginning to end, the Bears picked up their second consecutive Monday night in New Orleans, 70-65, over the host Delgado Dolphins.
 
Delgado took an early 4-0 lead in the contest before a Dawson Know tip-in put the Bears on the board with 17:58 left in the opening half.
 
The teams then traded baskets for several minutes before a Jay Kennedy trey put the Bears up 12-8 with 14:12 on the clock
 
Cy Merrett's three-pointer gave the Bears (4-6) a 17-12 advantage with 11:35 to go before the break. A pair of Merrett free throws, with 5:41 on the clock, then gave the Bears what proved to be their largest lead of the game, 30-19.
 
Delgado would trim the Bears' lead to seven, 36-29, at the end of the half.
 
A 19-6 Delgado run to open the second half put the home team on top, 48-42, with 12:58 on the clock.
 
After a pair of Courterius Scott free throws drew the Bears to within two, 48-46, Delgado would out score the Bears 14-7, to go up 62-53 with 7:06 remaining.
 
The Bears continued to fight and finally drew even with their hosts, 65-65, on an Andre Ngomabie layup with 2:05 showing on the clock.
 
Jaylen Haliburton made good on a pair of free throws with 1:40 to go and the Bears would go on to record the narrow five-point victory.
 
Merrett topped the Bears' offense with 15 points. Haliburton was also in double figure, with 13 points, as was Scott with 12 points.
 
The Bears went 9-11 at the free throw line.
 
The Bears will take time off to mark Thanksgiving before returning to action on December 4, at home, with a 6:00 contest against Baton Rouge Post Grad.
