When it came to shining in their respective sports, in the community and in the classroom, former Southwest student athletes Kaitlyn Williams and Jackson Stanford succeeded. And for their efforts they were awarded the David M. Halbrook Academic Achievement Awards for the 2023-24 academic year.

Williams, a member of the Lady Bears Soccer Team, earned a 4.0 GPA while Stanford, a member of the Bear Men's Tennis Team earned a 3.9 GPA.

Williams is a native of Picayune and graduate of Picayune Memorial High School. Stanford is a native of Hattiesburg and a graduate of Presbyterian Christian School.

The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference presents the awards each year.
