The 2024-25 year is already off to a strong start for Southwest Cheer following a third-place overall finish in their 14-team division at the Universal Cheer Association Camp held this weekend at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

"Finishing third overall is amazing," Southwest head cheer coach Cindy Henderson said. "This is a big, big win for us. For them to have this much energy and score this well early on, I feel that as the season progresses, we will be that much better."

One big help to a third-place finish for the Bears was placing second in the time-out routine which consists of game day cheers and stunts. Southwest also finished strong in the sideline and fight song routines.

Henderson adds that the strong finish has the team in a very positive frame of mind and she believes that it will perform well at the Nationals Event in Florida in January.
