Bears drop two at Mississippi Gulf Coast

The Bears were defeated in a pair of MACCC contests Wednesday afternoon in Perkinston as they fell to the host Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs 10-0 and 13-2. Both games ended after five innings.
 
Gulf Coast (15-11, 12-6) scored five runs in the 2nd inning of game one and went on to get the shutout.
 
Nic Scucchi took the loss on the mound, allowing 5 runs (1 earned) on 1 and 2 walks in 1.1 innings. He struck out 1 batter.
 
The Bears were limited to a first-inning single by Jerod Williams.
 
The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning of the finale when Presley Hall led off the frame with a walk and scored three batters later on an Ilich Purcell base hit.
 
Gulf Coast answered with four runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 4-1 lead.
 
The Bears (5-21, 4-14) trimmed their deficit to 4-2 in the top of the 4th when Braydon Coffey led off with a solo home run to right field.

Gulf Coast replied to the Bears' run with nine in the bottom of the 4th to end the scoring.
 
Blayze Boyd took the loss on the mound, surrendering 6 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings of work. He struck out 1 batter.
 
The Bears are set to return to action on April 10 in Moorhead when they take on the Mississippi Delta Trojans in a 1:00 conference twinbill.
