Lady Bears close out season with split at East Central

Jade Latham sets team career HR record in opener

Jade Latham blasted two home runs in game one, giving her a team career-record 12, Wednesday afternoon to help power the Lady Bears to an 11-2 MACCC win over, the host East Central Lady Warriors. East Central came back to win the finale 12-2, in five innings, to gain a split in the season-ending doubleheader.
 
The Lady Bears finished the season with a 21-17 overall record and 13-15 in the MACCC. East Central ended the year at 13-27, 11-17.
 
Jenna Brock and Halee Jenkins both had RBI singles in the top of the 1st in the opener to put the Lady Bears on top 2-0.
 
Jade Latham's two-run homer, a two-RBI double from Brock and a Mel Lewis RBI single extended the Lady Bears' lead to 7-0 in the top of the 2nd.
 
In the top of the 4th, Latham blasted a lead-off line-drive home to centerfield to make the score 8-0.
 
East Central scored solo runs in their half of the 4th and 5th innings to cut the Lady Bears' lead to 8-2.
 
In the top of the 6th, Ashleigh Rowland's run-scoring single and a two-RBI base hit from Shelby Mason gave the Lady Bears their final runs of the game. East Central went down in order in the bottom of the frame to give the Lady Bears the win.
 
Jensen Gremillion allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and a pair of walks in recording the win in the circle. She struck out 6 batters.
 
Madison Moak had a pair of singles in the game for the Lady Bears.
 
East Central took a 2-0 1st-inning lead in the nightcap on their way to the win.
 
The Lady Bears trailed 5-0 before getting their only runs in the top of the 3rd. Ashja Walker led off the frame with a single and scored later when Mel Lewis reached base on an error; Lewis later scored on a throw when Bailey Buckley singled.
 
Gremillion took the loss in the circle after giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks in 1.2 innings of work. She struck out 2 batters.
 
Rowland had a double for the Lady Bears.
