The Bears began their season-ending home stand Thursday night with 23-11 and 14-1 MACCC losses to 3rd-ranked Pearl River. Both games ended after five innings.

The Bears trailed the opener 5-0 after the top of the 1st inning. In the bottom of the frame. Presley Hall and Easton Porter both had two-RBI doubles to trim the Bears' deficit to 5-4.

Pearl River (27-7, 17-5) led 12-4 going into the bottom of the 3rd when a Jerod Williams base hit drove in a run to make the score 12-5.

The Bears' bats came alive in the bottom of the 4th with the score 14-5. Hall and Porter both drove in a run with a base hit and Braxton Cooksey had a two-run homer to help the Bears scored six runs and pull to within 14-11.

That would be as close as the Bears would get, however, as Pearl River pulled away with nine runs in their half of the 5th.

Justin Jones took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk in 0.2 innings.

Braydon Coffey had two singles for the Bears.

In the finale, Pearl River led 12-0 before the Bears (5-25, 4-18) picked up their only run in the bottom of the 4th on Williams' RBI-single.

Ilich Purcell took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs (9 earned) on 10 hits and 3 walks. He struck out 3 batters.

The Bears return to the diamond on April 18 when they host the Northeast Mississippi Tigers in a 1:00 conference doubleheader.
