3rd-ranked Itawamba takes two from 17th-ranked Lady Bears

The 3^rd-ranked Itawamba Lady Indians took both ends of their MACCC doubleheader against the 17^th-ranked Lady Bears Thursday afternoon in Summit, winning game one 6-0 and taking the finale 13-2 in five innings.

Itawamba (22-4, 14-2) scored the only run they would need in the top of the 1^st in the opener. They would add their final runs in the top of the 7^th.

Jensen Gremillion took the complete-game loss in the circle, giving up 6 unearned runs on 4 hits and a walk.

Madison Moak had a double for the Lady Bears (17-9, 9-7).

The visitors took an 8-0 lead in the top of the 2^nd in the nightcap. In the bottom of the inning, a bases-loaded walk to Jenna Brock and an RBI base hit by Jade Lathamgave the Lady Bears their only runs of the game.

Itawamba would add a pair of runs in the 3^rd and 5^th innings and a solo run in the 4^th to complete the scoring.

Latham took the loss in the circle, surrendering 8 runs on 6 hits in 1.1 innings of work.

The Lady Bears return to action on April 7 at home when they host 2^nd-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast in a 3:00 conference doubleheader.
