The Bears made the long trip to Clarksdale Saturday afternoon and brought back home 7-1 and 10-7 MACCC wins over the host Coahoma Tigers.

Coahoma took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning in game one. They held onto the lead until the top of the 6th when a Jonathan Havard line-drive single to right field scored two runs and gave the Bears a 2-1 lead.

Mason Barker was hit by a pitch to start the Bears' 7th and scored later on a two-out Braxton Cooksey base hit to increase the Bears' lead to 3-1.

Barker drove in a run in the top of the 8th with a double and Dillon Morgan, on base via a single, scored on a balk to extend the Bears' lead to 5-1. A Gage Gregory two-run homer in the 9th, his second hit of the game, accounted for the final runs of the game to give the Bears their margin of victory.

Blayze Boyd picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run on four hits and four walks in seven innings of work. He struck out seven batters. Ilich Purcell retired all six batters he faced, with one strike out, in two innings to get credit for a save.

Lake Carmichael had a double for the Bears (3-9, 2-2).

The teams were tied 3-3 after an inning of the finale. Morgan drove in a run with a double while Presley Hall had a run-scoring single and Gregory, on base after being hit by a pitch, scored from third on a passed ball to account for the Bears' runs.

The Bears went up 4-3 in the top of the 3rd when Cooksey led off with a base hit-he later added a double and second single-and later scored from third on the front end of a double steal.

A two-run homer by Kolin Thompson in the top of the 4th then increased the Bears' lead to 6-3.

In the top of the 5th, Carmichael singled to score a run and Hall, on base with a double, scored on the front end of another double steal to give the Bears an 8-3 advantage. Coahoma then scored three times in the bottom of the frame to trim the Bears' lead to 8-6.

The Bears picked up their final runs of the game in the top of the 6th on Morgan's two-run blast over the left field fence, his third hit of the game, to make the score 10-6.

A run by Coahoma (0-10, 0-4) in the bottom of the 6th provided the final run of the day.

Case Roark picked up the win on the mound for the Bears after surrendering six runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out four batters. Jacob McDaniel gave up a run on two hits, while striking out two, in two innings of work to record the save.

Jerod Williams singled twice for the Bears.

The Bears take a few days off before returning to the diamond on March 10, in Raymond, as they face the Hinds Eagles in a conference twin bill. Game one is scheduled for a 3:00 first pitch.
