Lady Bears sweep visiting Hinds

Jade Latham lined a one-out RBI double in the bottom of the 7^th inning to give the Lady Bears a 7-6 game-one win over visiting and 13th-ranked Hinds Wednesday evening. The Lady Bears completed the MACCC doubleheader sweep with a 12-1 five-inning win in the nightcap.

Hinds held a 2-0 lead after an inning of game one. In the bottom of the frame, with Jenna Brock on base via a single, Mel Lewis sent a ball over the right field fence for a homer to tie the game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the 2^nd, Lewis' two-RBI single put the Lady Bears (10-4, 2-2) on top 4-2.

With the Lady Bears trailing 5-4, Brock's double, the third of her four hits in the game, and a ground out sent two runners across the plate in the bottom of the 4^th to put the home team back in the lead at 6-5.

Hinds (4-8, 2-4) scored a run in the top of the 6^th to tie the game at 6-6. The score remained tied until Latham stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 7^th.

Jensen Gremillion picked up the win in the circle, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits and a pair of walks in 7 innings. She struck out 3 batters.

Mikenzi Authement doubled for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears led 4-1 after an inning of the finale. Runs for the Lady Bears came from RBI doubles by Bailey Buckley, the first of her two hits, and Shelby Mason and a run-scoring Halee Jenkins single.

The Lady Bears sent 12 runners to the plate in the bottom of the 2^nd to score the final eight runs of the game. Mason had a two-RBI double in the frame.

Jade Latham gave up a run on 5 hits in 5 innings to record the win in the circle. She struck out 6 batters.

Brock had a triple and single for the Lady Bears while Latham singled twice.

The Lady Bears return to the diamond on March 13, at home, for a 1:00 conference doubleheader against the Lady Lions of East Mississippi Community College.
