Lady Bears get road win at Hinds, 74-58

After a close first half, the Lady Bears pulled away in the second half to defeat the host Hinds Lady Bulldogs 74-58.
 
The Lady Bears (5-2) trailed 14-11at the end of the first quarter, but came back to hold a 34-30 advantage at halftime.
 
Outscoring Hinds (0-5) 23-11 in the third quarter, the Lady Bears built their lead to 57-41 with one quarter still to play.
 
The Lady Bears extended their lead to as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter and went on to record the 16-victory.
 
Shylia McGee scored 25 points for the Lady Bears to lead all scorers. Mikayla Etienne followed with 24 points.

The Lady Bears went 9-15 at the free throw line.
 
Akyriale Ford led Hinds with 18 points. She and her teammates combined to hit 15 of 21 free throws.
 
"We started slow, but our press and changing defenses gave us a little spark," said Lady Bears head coach Brent Harris. "Mikayla and Shylia were pretty tough offensively. Everyone contributed; it was a total team win."

The Lady Bears take to the home court for their next game as they host the 2nd-ranked Jones Lady Bobcats on March 4 at 6:00.
